On July 28-30, the SSPX parish of Immaculate Conception Church will make its 17th annual Cataldo Pilgrimage there, starting in Post Falls, Idaho, and ending at the Cataldo Mission in the Coeur d’Alene’s Old Mission State Park. Today, the Society of Saint Pius X continues the custom of offering the traditional Latin Mass on the same altar used by missionaries in the 1850s. It was the Jesuits who also began the tradition of making annual pilgrimages to this historic church during the early 1900s. These heroic priests, who once offered the Tridentine Mass at what is now the Old Sacred Heart Mission at Cataldo, Idaho, loved the Church and everything it stood for. DeSmet, Ravalli, Joset, and other Jesuit missionaries live on in the mountains of north Idaho.
